Susan P. (Tremblay) Ponte, age 70, of Dartmouth, passed away Monday July 6, 2026, peacefully and with the grace and positive attitude for which she is so well known. Susan was a selfless and devoted mother to her two daughters and dedicated her life to raising them. As her daughters grew, she met the love of her life, Richard M. Ponte, who she shared over 20 years of happiness with.
Susan was born in New Bedford, MA, where she lived most of her life until she moved to Dartmouth when she married Richard. Susan was the daughter of the late William A. Tremblay and Jeannette T. (Giasson) Tremblay.
Susan attended St. Anthony’s High School and then began her career working as a secretary at JC Rhodes Company for many years. She then worked at Comcast as a customer service representative until her early retirement to care for her parents and to be a hands-on Memere to her grandchildren who were her whole world. In recent years, she worked for Bayada as a Home Maker / Companion. She treasured her time spent with her beloved clients and enjoyed taking care of others.
Susan’s biggest happiness came from time spent with her family, and she loved her children and grandchildren immensely. She enjoyed any moment spent with her family and celebrated all of life’s milestones, whether big or small. She created lasting memories and magic through all of the ways she brought the holidays alive – whether it was the Thanksgiving Turkey bringing gifts for her grandchildren, individual wrapping paper for each person during Christmas, or a seasonal décor item that she knew someone just needed to have.
She loved vacations to tropical destinations with her husband and cherished those memories. She was so happy to have taken a whole family vacation to Jamaica with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Some of her favorite things included decorating her house for every season, planting flowers around her home, going to any event for her grandchildren, and hosting celebrations at her home.
Susan found great joy in life's simple moments and cherished preserving those memories through photographs. In honor of her legacy, her family encourages everyone to appreciate the little things each day and to capture life's special moments, creating memories that can be treasured for years to come.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Richard M. Ponte, and her two daughters, Heather Simmons and her husband Andrew of New Bedford, and Jessica Duclos and her husband Michael of Acushnet; her step children, Steven Ponte and his wife Lisa, Christy Ponte and her husband Noah, whom she held dearly in her heart, her sister Diane I. Garbetti and her husband Charles of Lakeville, her nephew Nathan Garbetti and his wife Rachel of Fairhaven, and her cherished and beloved grandchildren, Adyn and Drew Simmons, Isabella and Charlotte Duclos, Alexandra and Kya Ponte, and Eli Rosenkrantz.
She was the aunt of the late Chad Garbetti and the grandmother of the late beloved Owen Simmons.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Charlton Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care and encouragement Susan received.
