Thelma C. Alves

Born in New Bedford, Thelma was the daughter of the late Carlos O. and Maria G. (Cabral) Carreiro. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and worked for many years as a Legal Secretary.

Thelma was married to the late Antone Alves for 28 years. A simple woman at heart, she found joy in the comforts of home, watching movies, cooking, and spending cherished time with her family.

She is survived by her loving step-daughters, Pamela Cardin and her husband Clifford of East Freetown, and Toni Alves of East Freetown; her five grandchildren, Nicholas Alves, Jessica and Samantha Cardin, Jeffrey Ramsden, and Sara Elizabeth; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her nieces, Shirley Ochipa and her husband William, and Laurie Tripp, and her nephew, Robert Carreiro.

Thelma was predeceased by her step-daughter, Lynn Alves, and her brothers, Eddie and Louis O. Carreiro.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Pine Grove Cemetery, 1100 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
