Thomas Xavier Martin

Thomas Xavier Martin, age 66, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Vibra Hospital after a long illness. He was the son of Alfred Martin and the late Drita (Querim) Martin. He graduated from New Bedford High School, and from there he entered right into the work force. He worked as a baker, taxi driver, taxi owner, and in other transportation fields. One of his more unique jobs was operating the main curtain for a theatre production at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami, Florida.

Thomas loved going to flea markets, cooking, eating great food, and going to the casino. He always had a passion for music and spent many hours writing song lyrics. His pen name was "Tom Slick". When he was younger he also had a passion for street car drag racing.

Thomas loved his children (Julie, Corey, and Jacob) and all of his grandchildren. They were the joy of his life and will forever be in his heart. We imagine and hope that Thomas is now reunited with his son Jacob who passed away at the age of 27 and our beloved Mom; sharing lots of hugs and kisses in heaven.

Survivors include his father, Alfred Martin of New Bedford, his sister Linda Martin of New Bedford, his brother Steven Martin and his wife Suzanne Martin of Concord, New Hampshire, his children Julie Holt of Derry New Hampshire and Corey Aranjo of New Bedford, and Jake's love Kerri Britto of New Bedford.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00AM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA, 02745. Relatives and friends are invited.
