Walter Gregory

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Ernest and Mary (Lees) Gregory, he graduated from New Bedford High School and the former Kinyon Campbell School of Business. Much of his career was spent as an accountant at the former Hemingway Transport Co. of New Bedford. Walter lived most of his life in Dartmouth, returning to New Bedford in his later years.

As a young father he was very involved in the Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association, coaching Little League basketball and baseball. He was also the Treasurer of the DYAA for many years. He always enjoyed family events and outings. He had also enjoyed swimming, boating, and playing golf, and always loved sports of all kinds.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lynne Boerth and her husband Donald of Somerset; two sons, Dana Gregory and his wife Doreen and Bruce Gregory all of New Bedford; granddaughter, Meaghan Gregory of New Bedford; grandsons, Jason Almeida and Craig Gregory of New Bedford, Jeffrey Boerth of Somerset and Joel Boerth of Carlsbad, CA; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George, Ernest and Robert Gregory.

His funeral will be Tuesday at 10 am in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by burial in Acushnet Cemetery. Visitation is Monday 4-8 pm. www.rock-funeralhome.com for online tribute/directions.
