

Born in São Miguel, Azores, Walter was the devoted son of the late Joao and Maria (Medeiros) do Rosario Rezendes. He was married to the love of his life, Fernanda Rezendes, for 60 cherished years, and together they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith.
Walter worked for many years in the construction industry with various companies in the Boston area. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his craft and provided steadfastly for his family.
A true homebody, Walter embraced the simple life. He found joy in watching soccer, football, and CNN, and he loved nothing more than spending time at home, fixing things and taking on house projects. His motto, "No place like home," was not just a saying—it was the guiding principle of his life. Family was his first and greatest priority, and he delighted in being surrounded by his children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Fernanda, Walter is survived by his loving children: Paul Rezendes and his wife Janet of New Bedford, Rick Rezendes and his wife Maria of New Bedford, Walter Rezendes and his wife Maria of Acushnet, Mike Rezendes of New Bedford, and Jeffrey Rezendes and his wife Sandra of New Bedford.
He was a proud grandfather to Chelsea Maloney and her husband Michael of New Bedford, Sydney Rezendes, Avery Rezendes, Scarlett Rezendes, and Hunter Rezendes, all of New Bedford.
Walter is also survived by his siblings: Antero Rezendes and his wife Tina of Freetown, Jack Rezendes and his wife Sheila of Fairhaven, Octavio Rezendes and his wife Cindy of California, Mario Rezendes of New Bedford, and his sister Lillian Rezendes of Fall River. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Anna Rezendes of Dartmouth, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, John Rezendes, and daughter-in-law, Fern Rezendes.
Walter will be remembered for his loyalty, his humility, and the deep love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
His Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 9:00am in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745, followed by his 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel The Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.
