Born in Poland, a daughter of the late Henrick and Emilia (Stahl) Schiele, she came to America in 1952 at the age of 17, and immediately learned English and found employment. At the age of 75, Wanda converted from Lutheran and was confirmed in the Catholic faith. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Wanda was employed as a home health aide for many years. Earlier in her life, she was a loving wife and stay-at-home mother who also took on part-time jobs during the school year. Wanda was fluent in English, Polish and German and achieved her high school diploma from New Bedford High School Evening Extension at the age of 38. She will always be remembered as a sweet natured woman who loved and cared for her family.
She is survived by her children, Renee Baulier and her late husband Gerald of Apex, NC., Jacqueline Sylvia and Laurence Langlois, both of New Bedford. She was the mother of the late Paul Langlois and sister of the late Henrietta Bader and the late Andreas Schiele. She has a grandson, Christopher Sylvia and his wife Hong of Roy, WA and a granddaughter, Jennifer Baulier of Phoenix, AZ; a great- grandson, Ethan Sylvia of Roy, WA.
Her funeral service will be Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visitation will be prior 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. For online tribute/directions: www.rock-funeralhome.com.
