William G. Miller

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Edward and Maria (deFreitas) Miller, he was a lifelong city resident and a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church where he was one of the few male members of the Senior Club.

Mr. Miller attended and graduated from New Bedford schools. In his early years, he loved to sing on stage with his Vaughn Monroe style voice and he worked in several of the area factories. He worked at the water treatment plant on Otis Air Force Base. Bill was a hardworking man that everyone liked. He was a gifted landscaper and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Miller truly loved New Bedford and appreciated his wonderful life.

He is survived by a daughter, Robin M. Miller of New Bedford; two sons, Wayne W. Miller and his wife Marguerite of New Bedford and Gary L. Miller and his wife Susan of Acushnet; two sisters, Elizabeth Miller of New Bedford and Marilyn Miller of CA; a brother, James Miller of New Bedford; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a companion, Yvonne Breton of New Bedford.

He was the brother of the late Angela Smith.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford with a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Avenue, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m.
