Cheryl A. Danner

She was born on October 31, 1938, in Whiting, IA, the daughter of Dail P. and Doris A. (Powers) Farris. Cheryl married Delbert Danner on May 12, 1978. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2008.

Cheryl graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, IA, in 1956. She went on to work for Central IL Public Service/CIPS in 1998, retiring after 21 years. After being retired for several years she returned to work at the State of Illinois Lottery and retired on December 31, 2019. She was a faithful follower of Christ. Cheryl thoroughly enjoyed being with her great-grandchildren, polishing rocks and making jewelry, crocheting, sewing, and working in her flower garden when her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Dail Farris; one granddaughter, Breanna Smith; and one step-grandson, Joshua Abbott.

Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Anne (Milton) Madden of Sacramento, CA, and Christine Jeanette (Kevin) DeGroot of New Berlin; sons, Edward Dail Smith of Beardstown and Michael David (Donna) Smith of Soddy-Daisy, TN, and James Edward (Susan) Danner of Wrightwood, CA; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-great-grandchildren.

She loved her family very much.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Private family graveside services will be held at Beardstown City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Animal Protective League.
