

She was born on May 24, 1952, in Jacksonville, IL, the daughter of Oliver “Ash” and Gwendolyn “Marie” (Davenport) Adkins. Deanna married Louis Curtis, Jr., on August 20, 1970, in Loami, IL.
Deanna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated public servant.
She is survived by her loving husband, Louis D. Curtis Jr.; two daughters, Shelly Stephens (spouse Curt) and Pam Harden (partner Tim Hermes), all of New Berlin; four cherished grandchildren, Austin Stephens, Ashley Stephens, Greg Harden, and Erika Harden; dearly loved great-grandchild, Ryder Syrcle, who held a special place in her heart; and sister, Martina (Jack) Wiessing of Jacksonville, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Linda “Jody” Russell.
Her family was the center of her life, and she took immense joy in the time she spent with them. Deanna loved spending time with her pets and grandkids, and listening to old-time country music. She was known as sweet, kind, loving, understanding, and gentle.
Deanna devoted over 35 years to the New Berlin Emergency Squad, first serving as an EMT and later as Assistant Chief. Her dedication, compassion, and leadership left a lasting impact on the community she served so faithfully.
She was a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary in New Berlin.
In her free time, Deanna found peace and joy in crocheting and was always working on something thoughtful for her loved ones. Her warmth, humor, and strength touched all who knew her.
Deanna's legacy lives on through the family she loved fiercely and the countless lives she touched through her service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
