

He was born on January 15, 1947, in Springfield, IL, the son of Edwin Francis and Martha Jane (Aplin) Burke Sessions.
Leslie was a retired fertilizer specialist with Lincoln Land FS. He found great enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time fishing, bowling, and playing cards with family and friends. Leslie was an avid sports fan, who rarely missed a NASCAR or NHRA race, and enjoyed following many other sports as well. He will be remembered for his love of competition, his appreciation for time spent with others, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Judy Burke; sister Beverly; and brother Lon.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Celia Burke; sons, Tad and Chris (Linda) Burke, all of Springfield, IL; daughter, Kelly (Darin) Cerar of Lincoln, IL; grandchildren, Joshua Burke, Ronan Cerar, Devan (Sean) Hanson, and Payton and Chase Burke; great-grandchildren, Joshua Jr., Jordan, and Emmerie Burke; sister, Brenda (Chuck) Embrey of Springfield, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Gathering & Ceremony: The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, IL 62670 until the time of the Ceremony at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Loami, IL.
