

She was born on June 20, 1935, the daughter of Glenn Morris and Helen (Bacon) Coates. Mary Ann married Ronald Lee Kemp on February 21, 1953, in Pocahontas, AK. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2000.
Mary Ann went to grade school in Lynnville and graduated from Winchester High School in 1953. She and Ronald ran Camping Center in New Berlin. Later, Mary Ann worked for 12 years with Knights Templar Eye Foundation. Mary Ann was a faithful member of Island Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking for everyone. Mary Ann was known for her pizza burgers, iced tea, and lemonade. She always made sure no one left her house hungry. Mary Ann also loved visiting rummage and garage sales. She had a strong work ethic, and everyone that met her loved her instantly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald; brother, Robert Coates; and nephew, Glenn Coates.
Mary Ann is survived by her sons, Dave (Satina Bradley) Kemp, Dan (Carol) Kemp, and Max (Stacey Vogan) Kemp; daughter, Rebecca LeeAnn (Dallas) Stephenson; grandchildren, Danielle, Garrett, Megan, Blake, Marshall, Brandon, Taylor, Brayden, and Brock; nine great-grandchildren; cousins, Tom and Ed Miller; niece, Cindy Prewitt; nephew, Steve Coates; brother-in-law, Reg (Jenny) Kemp; and sister-in-law, Joyce Roach.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Ceremony will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Linda Harrod officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodwreath Cemetery in New Berlin.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
