

He was born on February 1, 1964, in Springfield, IL, the son of William Lee and Anna Margaret (Cumby) Poole.
Scott attended New Berlin High School. He was a talented and gifted carpenter, learning the trade from his father. The two of them owned and operated Poole's Construction out of New Berlin for many years. Scott went on to work for Cloyd Builders in New Berlin as well as Buraski Builders and Moughan Builders in Springfield. Scott was proud to have helped build most of Springfield’s south and west side neighborhoods. He built homes in the subdivisions of Trevi Gardens, Cobblestone, Scarborough, Westchester, and many homes in New Berlin. Scott was a lifelong fisherman and hunter. He cherished his time together with his granddaughter and favorite fishing buddy, Hailey Grace. Scott was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and also enjoyed go-kart racing, gardening, and cooking. One of his greatest passions was the Indy 500. Scott attended 26 consecutive races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Though a stubborn man, he had a big heart with a great sense of humor. Scott remained optimistic throughout his cancer journey and was thankful to all of his doctors, nurses, and caregivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Brad Poole.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Kristi Poole of Ashland; son, Daniel (Kayla) Poole of Ashland; grandchildren, Lillian and Hailey Arnold, Tessa Watkins, and Parker Pickford, all of Ashland; siblings, William E. (Carol) Poole of New Berlin, Brenda (Mark) Witt of New Berlin, and Lisa Lucky of Springfield; uncle, Bobby Poole of Waverly; family friend whom Scott considered a daughter, Tara Bergschneider; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home- New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Warren Brosi officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodwreath Cemetery in New Berlin.
