Wayne J. Stapleton, 71, of Springfield, IL, died at 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at his home.

Wayne was born in Springfield on November 30, 1951, the son of Clarence and Catherine Reed Stapleton.

He was a graduate of Griffin High School. Wayne worked as a barber and especially loved stock car racing and water skiing.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard.

He is survived by his brothers, Dave and Donald; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Berlin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.

The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home- New Berlin, 714 East Gibson Street, New Berlin, IL.
