Alice Lee Keech, 70, of Trent Woods, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Alice was born in Kinston, North Carolina on February 17, 1956, to the late Donald McBride Hudson and Barbara Allen Hughes.
Alice Lee was educated as a nurse and worked in healthcare for over 30 years. In her early life in Pollocksville she was a bit of a renegade, riding horses and motorcycles. You could find her climbing trees or in a backyard scuffle. Alice Lee was often a force to be reckoned with. Alice Lee was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her nurturing extended to almost everyone with whom she came into contact. Her family would describe her as “loving and funny” with an infectious laugh. She also had a love for animals: a horse named Misty, and two dogs, Snoopy and Shadow. As an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils, you could often find her cheering from the couch or yelling at the television. Even later in life Alice Lee remained a renegade, rafting the waters of Pidgeon Ford, and zip-lining through the Appalachian Mountains. She lived courageously and fully. The world lost a caring soul, but heaven gained an angel.
Thankful for her life and continuing in her memory are her beloved husband of 18 years Gilbert Keech, children Stephanie Szkaradnik, Christopher Szkaradnik and Jamie Baker, grandchildren Amy, Henry, Charlotte, Atticus and Leyla, Sisters Betty Jo, Barbara and Pamela and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, NC 28560 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the family and friends of Alice Lee Keech.
