Alvin Jackson Morefield, 85, of New Bern passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021. Alvin was born on September 21, 1936 in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late Alvin Jones Morefield and Christine Ellamae Neatherly Morefield.

Alvin was an only child and his father succumbed to black lung when Alvin was 14 years old. In high school he excelled in academics and athletics which led to his appointment to the Military Academy at West Point. Alvin graduated from West Point in 1959 and married Judith Mae Kissinger on graduation day. He became an Army Pilot and later a top executive at Ford Motor Company. He loved to travel, and during his career he and his family have lived throughout the world. He was an avid Army football and Michigan Wolverine fan. Alvin was an excellent leader, a dedicated and loving family man, a loyal friend, and known by all as honorable, dependable and just.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judith Mae Morefield, his sons, Jack Morefield and wife, Elizabeth, Richard Morefield and partner, Maribel Allaria, his grandchildren; Sara Gringon, Abigale Morefield, Anna Morefield, David Morefield, Alex Morefield and Scott Morefield.

He is predeceased by his son David Scott Morefield.
