Throughout his life, Andres was defined by steady dedication and a strong work ethic. He spent more than 15 years working at the lumbar yard, where he later retired—years marked by reliability, perseverance, and the quiet pride of providing through honest labor.
Andres was married to Theresa Ann Melendez for 45 years. Together they shared a life centered on family and raised two sons. Theresa Ann Melendez preceded him in death in 2020. He was also a proud grandfather of four grandchildren, and some of the family’s most cherished memories include the simple joy of him driving his tractor around the yard with his grandchildren close by.
A man of consistent purpose and hands-on skill, Andres loved old tractors and devoted daily time to working on and restoring the three he owned. He also found deep satisfaction in his garden, where he enjoyed growing his own vegetables and fruits—an endeavor that reflected both patience and care, and a true green thumb.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Riverpoint Crest Nursing home for the care they provided to Mr. Melendez, and to Cotten Funeral Home, especially to funeral director Sinai Carmona for her kind heart and words which we needed and for the service they have provided during this difficult time.
Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family and friends of Andres Rivera Melendez Sr.
