

She was born Jan 8th, 1932 in Burlington, NC to parents William Fletcher and Lavina Morris Apple. She was predeceased by her husband, James Curtis (Jim) Williford, Jr.
She is survived by 3 children: Kathi and her husband Steve, Curt, and David and his wife Cheryl. She enjoyed six grandchildren: Jennifer and her husband Brian, Cameron and her husband Kyle, and Jordan and her husband Carter, Ryan and his partner Ciara, Neil and April. She was blessed with five great grandchildren, Clark, James, Jack, Carson, and Harris.
Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Bern since the 1950’s. She was active in House Church #13, enjoyed singing in the choir for many years and was a member of the Resurrection singers.
She was a Grey lady volunteer at the hospital in New Bern, and member of the New Bern Shrinettes as well as the Pamlico County Shrinettes where she held offices in both organizations. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club and a former volunteer for Hospice.
Her career spanned 24 years with Carolina Telephone and Telegraph, moving to Havelock, Rocky Mount, Morehead City, Kinston and finally bringing her back to New Bern. Beginning in 1965 she always enjoyed going to “The Camp” at Dawson Creek in Pamlico County where she spent many special times on and off the water with family and friends.

Funeral will be Monday, November 3rd, 2025 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, New Bern, NC. Officiating the service will be Reverend Anna Straight. The family will visit immediately following the service at church. Burial will be in Greenleaf Memorial Park.
