Bessie Gaskins Everington
July 31, 1931 – January 21, 2023

Bessie Gaskins Everington passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 21, 2023. She was born in Craven County to the late Luther Edward Gaskins and Minnie Wallace Gaskins Orr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odie "Bill" Everington and her brother, Luther Earl Gaskins.
Bessie grew up in the Antioch community of Craven County and graduated from Bridgeton High School. She worked at Cherry Point and retired after 25 years of service.
Bessie is survived by her son, William "Billy" Everington and wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Robbie King (Lori), Christy Woodruff (Daryl) and Toni Williams; great grandchildren, Jessica, Drew (Heather), Anna, Shea, Autumn, Anthony and Joseph; and great great grandchildren, Jackson and Wyatt. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews with whom she shared special relationships.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Cotten Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at New Bern Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Rex Bennett officiating.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to her caregivers, Doris, Terrie and Mary. Their love and compassion for the last three years has been immeasurable.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made in Bessie's name to Highland Park Christian Church or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Arrangements are in the care of Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
