Ms. Betty Carolyn Molinare

Betty Carolyn Huffman Molinare died on morning of June 9. She was born in Hickory, North Carolina to Leona Wyant and Clifford Russell Huffman on April 11, 1936. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith which has been her comfort and strength though out her life and found it a great honor to be a direct descendant of Gottfred Arends, the first Lutheran minister ordained in North Carolina on the blessings of Gov. Tyron and King George III. She was the wife of Roderick Albert Molinare formerly of Houston Texas. “BC” Molinare graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In College she was in The Order of the Valkyries, The Oder of the old Well, Pi Sigma Alpha and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. A few years after meeting her husband in Dallas, they moved to Winston-Salem. There she was an active member of Augsburg Lutheran Church serving as an officer of the Augsburg Lutheran women for ten years including President. She served had Regent of The Old North State Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution. President, Third Vice President, Treasurer and Historian of the North Carolina Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and member of Board of the Northwest North Carolina Council of Government serving in the area of Historical Preservation. BC Molinare moved to New Bern in 1994 and worked at the New Bern Firemen’s Museum and many years as a guide at Tryon Palace. She was an attendee of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church Betty Carolyn Molinare is survived by her Husband Roderick Molinare, her younger brother Daniel Huffman, and her two Sons Roderick Albert Molinare Jr and William Bernard Molinare II. She was preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth Caroline, son Brittain Russell, Sister Anne Huffman, brother Col. Leon Huffman Graveside services will be held at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
