Betty Higgins Hargett

Betty Higgins Hargett, 87, of New Bern, spent her first Sunday in Heaven on January 26, 2020. She was a loving wife, mother, and Granny who was a proud member of the New Bern High School Class of 1950. She was a dedicated child of God and an active member of Rhems United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her three daughters, Ellen Hargett, Jo Hargett Glover, and Danielle Hargett Cooper (DeWitt); four grandchildren, Mandee Glover, Daniel Glover (Katelyn), Brittany Glover, and Virginia Jenkins; brother, Leo Alton Higgins and sister, Betty Higgins Garner; and brothers-in-law, Charles Hargett (Melba), Francis Garner and sister-in-law, Carol Hargett Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Hargett and first grandchild, Alan A. Gross; and sister, Lorraine Garner.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, January 30th at Cotten Funeral Home, followed by a service beginning at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Connie Stutts officiating. She will be buried in a private family ceremony at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Rhems United Methodist Church Food Fund, c/o Brenda Simmons, 5730 HWY 17 South, New Bern, NC 28562.
