Scott’s passions in life included airplanes, sailboats, and Corvettes. He worked his way through aviation training to live his dream of being a professional pilot and later in life, a flight instructor, and Director of Pilot Training. In addition to his love of aviation, Scott loved being on the water with the wind filling the sails of the variety of sailboats that he enjoyed over the years or driving his Corvette with his favorite music on the radio. Whether flying, sailing, or driving, Scott loved an adventure.
Most of all, though, Scott loved his family and he lived for them, every minute of every day. His favorite role in life was being a father to his two exceptional children – son, William (Will) and daughter, Patricia (Patti). They were the lights and the peace of his life. In addition to his adored children, Scott leaves behind his loving wife, Laura Bowen Pickard. Together, Scott and Laura created a home of joy and one of love. Their extended family includes many cherished siblings, siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and parents-in-law. Scott also leaves behind a circle of trusted and treasured friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his brother and his late wife, Stacy. Laura, Patti and Will find peace that Scott is not alone and will be reunited in Heaven with so many beloved members of his family.
The Pickard family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Cotten Funeral Home. A celebration of Scott's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Rev. Charles Moseley officiating. Following the service, Scott will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
