I am sure I am already in trouble since Brenda hated the name Faye.
Brenda was born at the Old Saint Luke's Hospital downtown New Bern, April 11, 1952. She was the youngest and the only girl for her parents. She was always the apple of her Daddy's eye. She went to Brinson Elementary School and graduated from New Bern High School class of 1970. She attended ECU and shared an apartment with her childhood friend Linda. Many of her friends will remember at about 12 she talked her Daddy into a horse. Brenda rode Tony for years there was never a picnic table too tall to jump. I have been told so many stories about the Rambler station wagon her daddy gave her for a first car and how many friends would pile into it back and forth to school and the beach. Brenda loved the beach like no one else I ever met.Brenda and I met each other through a friend we both knew. There was something from the first time we saw each other. I met her father 2 days later. He was not happy about me being an active duty Marine. He worked many years on the base and did not want his little girl dating a Marine that could be gone at anytime. Well folks I not only won him over but became part of the family. Brenda had a 8 year old son ( Bryan) when I met her. She loved him with all her heart. He was a sweet child and all boy. He touched my heart and is still a big part of my life.I will never forget the day I asked for her hand in marriage. We were married for 33 short years. I can still see Papa Guy walking her down the aisle. She was so beautiful. I must tell you she was always beautiful to me. She was a New Bern Girl 100% She convinced me into remodeling the little house her daddy built. We moved into it a few years ago. She passed away in that house still surrounded by love and family, her son Bryan and 2 grandchildren, Megan and Nathan. Rest in peace my beautiful princess. You still have my heart. Thank God for all the Blessings we shared together.
