

Byas Carlton Lamb, Jr., 82, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Carlton was born in Craven County North Carolina on March 13, 1943, to Byas Carlton Lamb, Sr. and Annie Mae Moore Lamb.
Carlton grew up in the Riverside community of New Bern, graduated from New Bern High School in 1961, and went on to graduate from East Carolina University in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart in 1965, and they spent 60 wonderful years together. After college he went to work at Maola Milk and Ice Cream Company, in sales and management positions. After leaving Maola, he purchased Pinedale Food Mart in Reelsboro, NC and ran the store for over 20 years.
Carlton was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. He was also a member, past Master, and past Secretary of Berne Masonic Lodge #724. He was a member of the New Bern Scottish Rite, New Bern York Rite, Sudan Shriners, and Eastern Star. He was an avid boater, fisherman, and hunter and was often found either on the water, or with his hunting dogs in the woods. After retiring from Pinedale Food Mart, he would frequently be found at his camp on the shores of Bay River, his favorite place.
Thankful for his life and continuing in his memory are his wife, Carol Miller Lamb, son Robert C. Lamb, son-in-law Frankie Coley (Loren), grandson’s Austin Coley (Makayla) and Tanner Coley (Averee), great-grandson Thomas Coley, sisters Carol Grondin (Arthur) and Nancy Hughes (Ken).
He is predeceased by his parents, daughter Linda Lamb Coley, and brother Richard Lamb.

A visitation for Byas will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28560. Following the visitation will be a lakeside chapel funeral service at 3:00 PM at Greenleaf Memorial Park, 900 River Rd, New Bern, NC 28562. He will be laid to rest following the service.
