Ray grew up in the Harford area of CT and worked for Colt Manufacturing before enlisting in the US Navy. He was a veteran of WWII serving aboard the USS Ticonderoga, a newly commissioned flat top carrier, which he was a proud plank owner, serving in the Pacific.
He returned home, met and married Kay. He then joined Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he worked for 35 years. After retiring, they left their home in Cromwell, Ct and moved to New Bern where they lived for 25 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander A. and Albina M. Guilleau MacNeal and his brother Alexander A. MacNeal, III. He leaves a son, Kevin MacNeal of Torrington, CT; and a daughter Patricia MacNeal with whom he made his home. He also leaves his grandson, Eric Krauth of Phila., PA; and his granddaughter, Natalie MacNeal of Colchester, CT.
Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was a member and former usher at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Danield Oschwald officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
