The son of Charles and Norma Rist, he was born March 3, 1942 in Baltimore, Md. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Christi); granddaughter, Jade; sister, Bonnie (Larry); brothers, Eddie, John, Michael (Millie); and his companion, Jerri Jordan. He was predeceased by his son, Charles III.
Charlie received a degree in Industrial Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He served with the Army Reserve. He retired from a lengthy career with AT&T, Baltimore and Morristown, NJ, in Technology, Communications, Human Resources and Global Divisions.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Hopalong, NJ and New Bern, the NB Amateur Radio Club, and NB Computer Users Group. He was a member of various Fairfield Harbour clubs. He enjoyed fishing, boating, cycling and his 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible. He became an avid bridge player upon retirement.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the New Bern Elks Lodge at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
The family is appreciative of Craven County Hospice, especially Nurse Mary and Aide Nora, for their care during Charlie's lengthy illness.
