He served his country honorably as a Sgt. in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He loved sports, played basketball for New Bern High School and he enjoyed repairing electronics and studying astronomy.
Charles is survived by his son, Charles Toler, Jr. of Estoril, Portugal; daughter, Brooke Toler of New Jersey; sisters: Barbara Heath of Cove City, Mary Ellen Jones of Vanceboro and Bertha McKeel of New Bern and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in New Bern Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
