

Cindy Michelle Boyd, 52, went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2026, after she courageously and bravely fought cancer. Cindy was born on October 7, 1973, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was a cherished, faithful, kind-hearted, and selfless presence in the lives of all who knew her. Cindy resided in New Bern, North Carolina.
Cindy attended Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and later continued her education at Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina. She married Chris Boyd on April 14, 2001, in Hertford, North Carolina, and together they built a life grounded in love, commitment, and family.
For 30 years, Cindy compassionately worked at DPI, dedicating and devoting her career to serving children who were deaf or hard of hearing. A National Board-Certified Teacher, she approached her work with steady excellence and deep compassion, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and families. She was a true inspiration.
Cindy was an avid reader, a coffee lover, and greatly loved the beach. She was known for a quirky, but great sense of humor, and she always wanted a pet hippo—an endearing wish that reflected her unique spirit and warmth. The most important aspect of Cindy's life was her family. She was a loving, caring, and patient wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Leaving behind to honor and cherish Cindy’s life, legacy, and memories are her loving husband of 24 years, Chris Boyd; son, Caleb Boyd of Salisbury, MD; daughter, Taigen Boyd of New Bern, NC; mother, Barbara Katherine Jones of Elizabeth City, NC; brothers, Kevin Jones and his wife, Jessica, of Krasnoyarsk, Russia, and Brett Jones and his wife, Tammy, of Elizabeth City, NC; 17 nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and close friends. Cindy is preceded in death by her father, William Ray Jones.
A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Port City Community Church, located at 2840 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC.
