Clarence D. Simpson, 81, of New Bern, died May 13, 2013 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

He was a member of Rhems United Methodist Church and he served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was a founding member of Rhems Vol. Fire Department and he served as a Fire Commisioner for the Rhems Fire District.

He was survived by his wife, Eva B. Simpson, two daughters, Judy Toler and husband Joe and Connie Cherry and husband Keith, all of New Bern; one brother, Durwood Simpson of Maryland; two sisters, Sadie Paul of the Silver Hill community; Verna Mae Miller of South Carolina; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 17, 2013 at the funeral home, followed by burial at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

it was so obvious at the service how loved Clarence was by so many. As my cousin I have great memories of hog-killings and family gatherings, Clarence never missed a chance to be w/ his family. I know he will be greatly missed.
