Pastor Clifford R. Dartt went to be with his Lord on November 1, 2012 after succumbing to cardiac complications. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of New Bern. Born November 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Dartt of Mammoth, West Virginia. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
A World War II veteran, he served his country in Company G, 2nd Battalion, 5th Regiment, 1st Division. He was a Purple Heart
recipient and awarded the Navy Cross for "extraordinary heroism in action against the enemy on Peleliu Island, Palau Group, on 9 October, 1944.”He is survived by his loving wife, Pat, of 60 years; son, Michael and Kathy Dartt of Jacksonville, Florida; three daughters, Jannise Rankin of Dothan, Alabama, Crystal Dartt of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Maralee and Dean Foster of Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He met his Lord and Savior in August, 1953 and was called into His service in 1955. He attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and graduated in 1958. He pastored in Colorado, Illinois, Florida, Maryland, New York and North Carolina.
Services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012, 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in New Bern. The Rev. Bill Wingard and Rev. Dwight Williams will officiate. Visitation with the family will be from 7:00 – 8:30 pm on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Mission Program, 1821 Rhem Avenue, New Bern, NC 28560.
