

Clyde Allen Bloomfield, 86, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away at his home on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Clyde was born in Wallingford, Kentucky on July 8, 1939, to the late Lee Roy Bloomfield and Martha Ellen Wagner Bloomfield. Clyde lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, laughter, and love for family.
Clyde’s heart was as big as his sense of humor. He loved watching classic TV shows and movies, shopping with his daughters, tackling jigsaw puzzles, reading his Bible, and spending time with his great-grandchildren and “grand puppies.” Known for his quick wit and love of teasing, Clyde was also a helping hand to many—whether mowing lawns “just for fun” in his younger years or tinkering on old cars with his buddies. He was famous for his bargaining skills and loved to brag about the great deals he scored.
Clyde proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for over 23 years. A Marine through and through, he was honored to serve his country in Vietnam, working as a Combat Photographer and in roles with MWR and Supply. After retiring from the Corps, he continued his dedication to service, working more than two decades for Civil Service in Transportation. He also enjoyed working for the Cherry Point Movie Theater for several years.
Clyde was deeply loved and will be missed by his four children Deborah Galindo (Daniel), Billy Bloomfield (Linda), Lynn Connor (Dale), and Michael Bloomfield, all of New Bern. His adoring grandchildren Michelle Wilmoth Whitaker (Mark), Angela Wilmoth Jones (Carlton), Amy Wilmoth Jones (Jack), Joshua Bloomfield, and Natalie Connor Prince (Michael). He has 15 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren, he also had several bonus grandchildren. His loving sister Rosemary Bloomfield Tuel (David), brothers Jerry Bloomfield and Leslie Morris Bloomfield and several nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his former wife, Linda Rickett Bloomfield, his children, Roger and Marsha Bloomfield, his sister Katherine Bloomfield Fite, his brothers Donald Bloomfield, Chester Bloomfield, Fredrick Bloomfield, and Eugene Bloomfield. He is also predeceased by his best friends of many years Bobby Grantha m and Avon Griffin.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and loved ones who offered support and encouragement throughout Clyde’s illness as well as his nurses Shantel and Sally from Pruitt Health Hospice. They were amazing at guiding the family through this difficult time.
The family will receive friends on August 15, 2025 at 1 pm at Cotten Funeral Home 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28560. A funeral service to follow in chapel, with interment at New Bern Memorial Cemetery, 1112 Chelsea Road, New Bern, NC 28562 with full military honors.
