Daphne Baia

Daphne Ghosley Baia passed away on July 17, 2026, in New Bern, NC. She was born on June 15, 1927, in London, England. She met the love of her life, Joseph Baia, while he was serving in the US Navy stationed in London. They were married there, and she returned with him to his native New York. They lived & raised their family in the Bronx, NY and subsequently retired in Long Island, NY.

Daphne loved returning to England with her husband to visit her family there. They would often travel to different places in Europe with her English family. Although she lived in the US for 80 years, she never lost her love of all things British.

Daphne is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Baia. She is survived by her loving daughters, Jean McKinley (Matt) and Patricia McGillick (Tom), her sister, Josie Chilvers and grandchildren, Joseph McKinley (Rose), Jill Barch (Michael), Matthew McKinley (Katherine), Timothy McKinley (Anna), Thomas McGillick (Lindsay), Brian McGillick (Jamie), Michael McGillick (Stephanie) & 13 Great Grandchildren.

Daphne had a long fulfilling life and loved her family, candy and traveling, usually in that order.

Daphne will be laid to rest with her husband at Calverton National Cemetery, NY at a later date.
