Darla Lynn Wiggins

Darla was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 26th, 1963. She moved with her family to Charleston, SC at a young age and this is where, at 12 years old, she met her future husband, Mark Wiggins. She and Mark married in 1988 and moved to New Bern, NC a few years later. While in New Bern, Darla held several jobs with the most recent being with C.S. Smith and Associates, CPAs. She also fondly remembered her time as Executive Director at Croatan Village Assisted Living.

Darla cherished spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved time with them at the beach or lake, playing board or yard games, and going to see friends and bands perform live music. She was also extremely creative and loved helping others with craft ideas or trying out new recipes. She will always be remembered for her generosity and eagerness to help others, her warm smile, and the positivity that she brought with her wherever she went.

Darla is preceded in death by her father, Charles Duncan. She is survived by her husband, Mark Wiggins; her children, Matthew Wiggins and Taylor Bost (Will); her grandchildren, Olivia and William Bost; her mother, Delene Duncan; her brothers, Tim Duncan (Joyce) and Chuck Duncan (Lisa); and countless other friends and family that she loved dearly.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Carolina East, the Cancer Center, and the nurses at 3HC Home Health and Hospice for their care, compassion, and expertise. A special thank you goes to Makenzie Sasnett for working so hard to keep her comfortable. The family would also like to thank Journey of Hope and Neuse River Fishers of Men for their support during this time.

A celebration of her life will be held at Cotten Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21st at 4:00 in the afternoon. If you plan to attend, please wear purple and feel free to dress casually. The family will receive friends following the service.
