He was a member of the Berne Lodge 724 and a Sudan Shriner.
He is survived by his sons David Haner, Jr. (wife Carolyn) of New Bern and Joseph M. Haner (Wife Ellen) of Salisbury, NC; daughter Patricia Barnette (husband Jim) of Lancaster, SC; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home with rosary at 8 pm. Burial will follow the funeral service at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607
