Four great grand children, Tucker Rascoe, Isabella Rascoe, Noah Santor, and Evelyn Santor. He is predeceased by his mother Joan Scribner Rascoe, his father Herman Rascoe, an infant brother Bryan Rascoe, and maternal and paternal grandparents
Dominic retired from NYS Dept of Corrections and was also a skilled electrician, machinist, plumber, carpenter, a racer and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working with his hands and was skilled in many crafts. Who our dad was to us: Our dad was our hero. He was a man that could do anything he set his mind to. Our dad was strong, wise, and he had the ability to see everyone and everything. Our dad was our protector, he always made us feel safe. He taught us to be the persons we are today; strong, resilient, capable and brave. Our dad was well liked by many and loved to give to those less fortunate. Our dad’s desire to help others was the inspiration to honor him with donation of his viable organs/tissues to the Honor Bridge, so that even in death, he continued to help others. Our dad loved building small engines and racing. He was an avid racer, who loved to build anything to go fast and to share that knowledge with others. He built many race cars and go karts over the years, he especially loved sharing this with his grandson. He sense of humor was larger than life and often included silly jingles that he made for us, such as “red head pees in the bed”, “Poppy’s little squirrel”, and “old Carol Rascoe…”, in general, he was happiest when making others laugh. He loved telling stories of the time he worked in a correctional facility, the stories were truly wild and free like his spirit. He loved playing guitar, his Gibson Les Paul to be specific. In his later teenage years, he was in a band with some of his best friends. Our dad loved his grand children and they loved him. He taught his grandchildren many skills such as electrical, which was a family trade his father and grandfather taught him. Many of his grandchildren now work in a trade using grandpa’s skills to continue his legacy. He left us with knowledge, life experience, friendship, loyalty, trust and respect and we will love, honor and cherish him and our life lessons for the rest of our days.
Dominic will be cremated so that he is free to ride, free to roam and free to just be. A celebration of life will take place in the future and will be shared on the Facebook page of his children and in NYSDOCS communications on social media. We respectfully ask that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation be made to a local chapter of the following; Make a Wish, SPCA, The Honor Bridge or other organ donation charity, or any personal charity you see fitting to honor Dominic’s memory.
