Dorathy Sue Cahoon

Dorathy Sue Cahoon, 90, of Havelock, NC passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at CarolinaEast Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born June 18, 1934, in Wise, VA and moved to Chesapeake, VA where she graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1952. Her and her husband settled in Havelock in the early 1970s where she cared for her family and worked in banking for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, being an avid bowler and enjoying a meal out amongst friends at Bayside.

Dot is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lula Hilton; her stepfather, Paul W. Merrill; her loving husband of 55 years, Curtis Ray Cahoon, Sr; brothers, Robert Carl Hilton, Jr. and Jack Ray Hilton; daughter, Theresa Lynn Cahoon Johnson.

Dot is lovingly survived by her daughter, Christina Price and her husband David; her son, Curtis Ray Cahoon, Jr; grandchildren Jennifer Allesi (Todd), Brian Johnson, Juliana Mills (Brandon), Curtis Ray Cahoon III (Jacquelin), and Karyn Clevinger (Lance); great-grandchildren McKenzie Mills, Lilyana Allesi, Saylor Mills, Braydon Allesi, Roman Cahoon, Ruby Clevinger and Lula Clevinger.

Dot had a heart of gold and cherished everyone in her life. She provided the best home for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She brought many laughs, smiles and love to the hearts of everyone who knew her.

A celebration of Dot's life will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern, NC. Following the service, Dot will be laid to rest beside her husband at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
