Douglas Bryan Hardison, 88, entered into his heavenly home on July 30, 2026, at his residence with his family by his side. Douglas was born on June 12, 1938, to the late Major Bryan and Clara Belle (Cahoon) Hardison.
Douglas was a proud member of Union Local 602 out of Washington, D.C. In addition, he was a reenactor with the Sons of Confederate Veterans until he became too sick to travel.
Leaving behind to honor and cherish the life and legacy of Douglas are his daughter, Patty Dunn and husband, Rodney "Bubba"; grandchildren, Amanda Jessee and Mallory Jessee; step-grandchildren, Lynda Long and husband, Brandon, and Jeremy Dunn and wife, Earline; great-grandchildren, Dameon Hatstat, Camden Jessee (of the home), and Bodhi Willis; seven step-great-grandchildren; and many loving family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Patsy Hartley Hardison; brothers, Carl Hardison, Floyd Hardison, Durwood Hardison, Rigdon Hardison, Joe Hardison, William "Bill" Schellenberg, and Melba Lee; sisters, Mildred H. Duncan and Mavis Wetherington; great-grandchildren, two baby boys; and many other family members.
A service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Cotten Funeral Home. Pastor Rusty Willis, a close and dear friend of the family, will be officiating the service. The family will receive visitors following the service. Douglas will be laid to rest beside Patsy at Greenleaf Memorial Park with a private interment.
