Edward James Grosser

Edward James Grosser, 77, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Edward was born on December 21, 1946, in Oak Park, Illinois to Edward August Grosser and Elizabeth Ann Ruprecht.

He was an accomplished sailor, who was happiest at the helm with his family and friends around him, sailing Lake Michigan, the Caribbean, Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. He ran a successful electrical contracting business in the Chicago area for many years and was well known for being fair, honest and always technically beyond reproach. Once retiring to North Carolina, he contributed his skills helping everyone possible after hurricanes and daily. He was always the person to give of his time, knowledge and resources. If anyone needed a leg up or a place to stay, his home was always open no questions asked. He lived in the true way of his devotion to his savior through his actions; humbly and without need for fanfare. His laugh was contagious and will be greatly missed.

Thankful for his life and continuing his memory are his beloved wife of 56 years Mary E. (Sieg) Grosser; their daughter Kristina L. Grosser, her husband Phillip Collins Jr, grandson (Hadley) James, and granddaughter Marilynn; their son Edward Robert Grosser, granddaughter Paulina, grandson (Edward) August, and grandson Joshua; sisters Betty Smith, Barbara Gassner, Debbie Zander, brother William Grosser; their spouses, many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces plus so many friends that are truly family.

He is predeceased by his sister, Beverly Dummer, brother-in-law Merlin Dummer, nephew Philip Dummer, brother-in-law Ben Smith, and his parents Edward and Elizabeth.
