Edward Lamar Sledge

He is preceded in death by his parents J. Wayland and Bessie Sledge, sons, Teddy Straub, Kevin Sledge, and daughter Susan Fick.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife F. Ann Sledge, son, Timothy Straub, daughters; Jolynn Wahl, Crystal Martin (Jonathan,) Linda Miller (Greg,) numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Edward was a longtime and active member of First Baptist Church of New Bern. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Wake Forest Law School. He practiced law at his fathers firm and later a practice of his own. Later in his career he began working in the magistrates office, while there was appointed as a magistrates judge. He was active in the community, belonging to many local civic organizations. Edward loved his home on the river, good food, travel experiences, reading, crossword puzzles, and his beloved dogs. He was also a talented amateur photographer.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Cotten Funeral Home. A private burial will be in Greenleaf Memorial Park.
