

Edwin Earl "Eddie" Rowe, 80, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Friday, December 2, 2016. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country with honor in Germany and also in the National Guard upon returning home. For more than 30 years, Eddie served with the Craven County Sheriff's Dept., retiring as Chief Deputy in 1992 after a successful career. He was a longtime member of Berne Masonic Lodge No. 724, York Rite Temple, Sudan Shriners, and the Sudan Truckers. He was also a member of Saint's Delight O.F.W.B. Church and served his community as a member and later Chairman of the First Craven Sanitary District Water Board for 25 years.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Williams. Entombment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Evelyn Rice Rowe; four children, Donnie Rowe and wife Debbie, Bryan Rowe, Brenda Armstrong and husband Jamie, and Dewey Haye, Jr. and wife Wendy; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 and other times at the home of Dewey and Wendy Haye, 660 Old Vanceboro Rd, New Bern.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the nurses and staff of Craven County Hospice, and especially to Martina, Robyn and Angel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to benefit hospice by sending contributions to the Craven County Health Dept. Foundation, P.O. Drawer 12610, New Bern, NC 28561.
