I met 


I met Edwina when I was a teenager probably seventeen years old, at White lake, N.C. back in 1953.  She made an impression on me that was hard to forget.  Anyway, she always called me "Crazy"  Her personalty was different from all other girls  of her age and I could have become very serious had she resided  closer.  She was a wonderful person.   I wish could have been more lasting in a relationship.

I cleaned for Mrs Rooker, when she owned a townhouse in Bridgeton NC. I guess I worked for her for a year. A real nice woman. I hate to hear of her passing. For her family and friends my sympathy and prayers are with you. 

Winnie and I went together in the early 1960s when we both lived in Virginia Beach.  It was an honor and pleasure to remain a friend for the half-century that followed. I shall miss her.

Your Warrenton friends and I are heartbroken. As we re-read your numerous Warren Record columns, we'll forever cherish many fond memories of you, dear friend.

Heaven has received another bright star, one with a wide smile and merriment in your eyes.  I didn't know  you for very long but I value the time that I did.  When I think of you, I think of your poem, Carlos.

What I'll always remember is your infectious laughter; it lit up the room and made me want to laugh, too. Your poem about the quilt, your mastery of poetic forms, your passion for education, and the short, funny pieces you wrote about people you knew. You have such a loving touch. For such a tiny person, you left a big wake.

Always loved your sense of humor.  And enjoyed your well told stories and poetry. Remembering you with fondness.  RIP, dear friend.

Oh! Oh! Oh!  Please tell me you haven't left us.  Through our writing class over the years we have come to know almost everything about your life.  Your education, your wartime stories, your camping days, your taste in literature, your wry sense of humor, your love of writing, your fashion sense, your childhood -- almost everything.  It appears you had a good life.  The class will miss you terribly and mostly so will I.  Love ya, girl!  MaXine
