Ella Frances Cahoon Williams

May 29, 1939June 10, 2014

Ella Frances Cahoon Williams, 75, died Tuesday, June 10, at Croatan Village where she had been a resident since suffering a stroke in 2009.

Her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ was evident every day in her consistent cheerful attitude even in the face of physical deterioration. No family member or caregiver at Croatan Village ever heard her complain or express self-pity because of her condition. Frances was a faithful member of Pleasant Acres FWB Church and was grateful for the visits and kindnesses of her fellow church members.

Frances grew up in Bridgeton and graduated from New Bern High School in 1957. After marrying Tommy Williams, her son Eddie was born with severe disabilities. Frances cared for him at home for almost 20 years before her health made it necessary for her to place him in a group home for disabled adults. Her patience, dedication, and selflessness were exemplary to all who knew her. Frances spent her adult life being a caregiver. In addition to caring for her son, she cared for her husband, her mother-in-law, and both her parents. In her last few years she has been blessed to be cared for by her faithful brother, Ray Cahoon, and his wife Linda, and by the staff at Croatan Village. The family is especially grateful to them for their care and compassion.

Frances is predeceased by her husband, Tommy Williams; her parents, Ernest and Sarah Stilley Cahoon; and her son, Liston Edward Williams.

She is survived by her brother, Ernest Ray Cahoon and his wife Linda, of New Bern; nephews Ben Cahoon (Amanda) of Heavener, OK and Jonathan Cahoon (Jennifer) of Wanchese, NC; great-nephews Hunter and Owen Cahoon and great-niece Taylor Cahoon; and many faithful first cousins who loved her like a sister.

Funeral services will be held at Cotten Funeral Home on Friday, June 13, at 2:00 with Rev. Scott Coghill, pastor of Pleasant Acres Church, officiating.

Visitation will be at Cotten Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Acres FWB Church, 2911 Old Cherry Point Road, New Bern, NC 28560.

Mr Cahoon & Extended Family

Ms Frances I believe was the Sweetest Lady on this earth. The first time I met her I just felt like I had known her all my life. I remember she had a love for the "cardinal birds". She will be forever miss and to know she brought a lot of love in so many people's lives, such a great memory. All my prayers and heartfelt sympathy.
