In 1963 Ann was in an automobile accident that left her a quadriplegic. After facing many challenges and years of therapy, she became a Mouth Painter. Ann taught herself to hold a paintbrush by her teeth. She painted lighthouses, flowers, canvas and tote bags. Her work could be seen at many art shows and festivals where she was proud to demonstrate her talent. Despite her struggles, she never gave up and she strived to be better. She learned to use a computer to keep in touch with friends and family. Her faith and persistence was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always had a smile, she loved life and all the support she received.
Ann is survived by her brothers and sisters, Peggy Anderson of Ernul, Betty Littlewood of New Bern, Donald Laughinghouse of South Carolina, Nancy Hack and Judy Laughinghouse of New Bern, Johnny Laughinghouse of Ernul and Joseph Laughinghouse of Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman, her parents, Rudolph and Lula Laughinghouse and her brothers, Carlos, Lester, Edward, Richard, Robert, William and Rudolph.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pruitt Health – Trent Campus for all of their compassionate care.
Her service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 22, 2022 at Lakeside Chapel, Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:00 prior to the service.
