He was a member of the First Church - Christ Science in New Bern. He was an avid sailor and a member of Blackbeard Sailing Club.
He is survived by his wife Virginia S. Sharp, one son, Roger Sharp of Franklin, MA; two daughters, Meredith Zafonte of Boxford, MA; Elizabeth Sharp of Denver, CO; one sister, Carol Smith of Bradenton, FL; four step-daughters and one step-son, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
