Freddie Lane Hill

Freddie was a man of deep roots, strong values, and unwavering love for his family and community. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Marjorie Hill, and his sister, Betty Mattocks.

Freddie leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Kornegay Hill; two devoted sons, Steven Hill and Kevin Hill (Evelyn), all of New Bern; his cherished grandchildren, Sarah Hill, Justin Hill, and Ashley Hill; and his adored great-grandchildren, Justin Hill, Jr., Ella Hill, Charlie Borg, Maxine Hill, Trey Williams, Mark Dixon, and Mason Durham. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry Hill (Linda) of New Bern and Jimmy Hill (Charlene) of Reelsboro; his sisters, Margaret Murphy (J.K.) and Frances Edwards, both of Spring Garden, and Patricia Hill of New Bern; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Freddie was known for his quiet strength, his generous heart, and his boundless patience. He was a man who loved the simple joys of life—early mornings on the water with a fishing rod in hand, cheering on his beloved Duke Blue Devils, and spending quality time in his workshop, where he poured his craftsmanship and care into every piece of wood he touched.

A true family man, Freddie found his greatest happiness in being a father. He was a hands-on dad who coached his sons’ baseball and football teams, rarely missing a game. He became not just a mentor to his boys but to many of their friends, often giving rides, guidance, and encouragement to a generation of young people who came to see him as a second father.

The Hill family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate support and care during this difficult time.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Freddie’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

Freddie Hill’s legacy of love, service, and steady kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
