Gabriele "Gay" Booth

She was born on October 20, 1919 in Corona, New York, the beloved daughter of Charlotte Girones Ahrens and Frederick Ahrens. Gay worked as a telephone operator and a Supervisor for AT&T in Philadelphia, where she met and married Casey Booth who was from North Carolina. She retired to New Bern, NC where she spent her remaining years surrounded by Casey’s family and many close friends. She was a poet, humorist, nature-lover, and she never forgot a birthday. She was beloved by all who knew her. Gay is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Casey, and a sister, Adele Blieka

She is survived by her niece Miriam Blieka, her nephew, Edward Blieka and wife Mary, and great nephews, Paul, Christopher and James Blieka, all of New York.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2013 at Cotten Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
