Born in Newton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late George Kenneth Campbell, Sr. and Anna Catherine Herold Campbell. George was a great mechanic and could work on most anything, especially boats and cars. He also spent part of his career as a long-distance truck driver which afforded him the opportunity to see just about every state, including Alaska. Though he loved traveling on the open road, his travels always brought him back to the coast where he enjoyed the peace and solitude he found in Oriental. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always knew how to make others laugh.
George is survived by his stepdaughter, Eleanor Melanson-DuBois; brother, Thomas J. Campbell (Peggy); sister, Jean Carroll (Robert "Bob" Allan); as well as several nieces and nephews. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his beloved companion, Sharon Melanson.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. on Friday, June 14th, 2019 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Oriental.
