George Richard Cook Sr.

He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, graduated from Scarsdale High School and New York University, was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and a stock broker for Kidder-Peabody in New York City.

He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. William A. Cook and Estelle Canavan Cook and sister Patricia Stimpson.

He is survived by his wife Maureen Cook; sons George Cook, Jr. (Julie) of Chicago, IL and William Cook (Christine) of Albany, NY; daughter Mary Beth Swingle (Eric) of New Bern; brother William Cook of Owosso, MI; six grandchildren Rick Cook, Erin Cheers, Laura Krause, Catherine Cook, William Cook and Trevor Swingle; and six great-grandchildren George Cook, Lee Cook, Gene Cook, Vincent Krause, Victor Krause and Lucy Cheers.

Memorial service will be at 11 am Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
