GEORGE REID FULLER III, 77 DIED ON MAY 23, 2016 AT HOME. GEORGE WAS BORN IN NEW BERN ON JUNE 25, 1938, ABOVE FULLER'S MUSIC ON MIDDLE STREET TO THE LATE G. REID FULLER AND HAZEL BREWER FULLER. GEORGE GRADUATED FROM FORK UNION MILITARY ACADEMY AND WORKED WITH SOUTHERN RAILROAD. HE CONTINUED HIS EDUCATION AT LENIOR COMMUNITY COLLEGE WITH A DEGREE IN DRAFTING. UPON GRADUATION HE WORKED WITH SEVERAL SURVEYING COMPANIES. GEORGE WORKED WITH MORRISON- KNUDSEN AND ENGINE SYSTEMS OF ROCKY MOUNT, NC, WHERE HE HELPED IN THE DESIGN OF EMERGENCY ELECTRIC POWER UNITS. RETURNING TO NEW BERN, HE WORKED WITH ROBERT M. CHILES, CIVIL ENGINEER, WHERE HE HELPED IN THE DESIGNING PLANS FOR THE HELICOPTER PAD AND THE PAD FOR THE MOBILE MRI FOR CAROLINA EAST HOSPITAL. HE HELPED IN THE DESIGNING PLANS ALSO FOR
GREENBRIER AND TABERNA. AFTER RETIREMENT, HE WORKED WITH JOHN THOMAS REFINISHING THE
WINDOWS OF CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN NEW BERN. GEORGE, THEN STARTED HIS OWN BUSINESS,
FULLER DRAFTING AND DESIGN, WHERE HE DRAFTED MAPS FOR BILLY MATHEWS , SURVEYING.
GEORGE WAS A MEMBER OF TABERNACLE BAPTIST CHURCH AND FORMER CHOIR MEMBER. HE WAS VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF CAMP BRINSON HUNTING CLUB AND HONORARY
MEMBER OF THE CLUB.
GEORGE WAS KNOWN TO BE A GREAT STORYTELLER AND LOVED TO PASS ON THE FAMILY HISTORY AND HIS
LIFE GROWING UP TO HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. HE INSTILLED IN THEM THE LOVE OF
NATURE. HIS GREATEST JOY WAS TAKING HIS FAMILY FISHING AND HUNTING. HE ALSO LOVED TEACHING
THEM WOODWORKING AND COOKING. HE THOUGHT NOTHING OF THROWING A PIG PICKIN' FOR ANY
OCCASION. HE ALSO ENJOYED HAVING OPEN HOUSES AT CHRISTMAS WITH GOOD SOUTHERN FOOD. HE
ESPECIALLY ENJOYED SPENDING TIME AT THE HUNTING CAMP OR FISHING AT THE CAPE.
GEORGE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 26 YEARS, CAROLE PINER FULLER AND CHILDREN, CATHY FULLER
JONES OF HARKERS ISLAND, GEORGE REID FULLER IV (BUDDY) AND NANCY OF THE STRAITS, SCOTT ELTON
FULLER (JENNIFER) OF NASHVILLE, TN. AND JOSEPH ROBERT PINER(BOBBY) AND CARLEY OF
NASHVILLE, NC. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY JENNIE BILLO (JOHN), TIM (MARIE) CAREY OF NASHVILLE,TN
AND SHAWN (MABLE) CAREY OF RICHMOND KY. HIS GRANDCHILDREN INCLUDE, JASA LEWIS, DAVID
AND KERI JONES,KELLEY FULLER, REID JONES, AUSTIN AND PEYTON PINER, BLAKE, MARCUS AND LUCAS
FULLER, AND 2 EXPECTED GREAT CHILDREN. GEORGE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SISTER LUCIA PEEL POWE OF
DURHAM, AND HER FOUR DAUGHTERS. GEORGE IS SURVIVED BY HIS MOTHER-N-LAW ANNE
PINER OF NEW BERN. ALSO BROTHER-N-LA W CD. PINER OF NEW BERN AND SISTER-N-LAW RUTH PINER LONG OF ELIZABETH CITY. HIS AUNTS CAROLYN B. WILLIS OF NEW BERN AND JEAN BREWER OF LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY, SELMA PINER OF NEWBERN, UNCLE AND AUNT CHARLES AND JOSIE BRATCHER OF
ARAPAHOE,NC. GEORGE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY MANY CLOSE NIECES AND NEPHEWS, COUSINS, AND SPECIAL FRIEND, WES BATCHELOR AND FAMILY. GEORGE IS PREDECESED BY HIS STEP-MOTHER, LUCIA
FULLER. ALSO FATHER-N-LAW CHARLES D. PINER, SR OF NEWBERN. HE IS ALSO PREDECEASED BY HY HIS AUNTS AND UNCLES, WILLIAM RAY BREWER OF KENTUCKY, ZET AND DOPEY DARNELL, ALBERT T WILLIS, BILL AND CELIA FEREBEE, ANDY AND LIB FULLER, JOE PINER, AUGUSTINE AND DORIS PINER, AND IRENE JONES ALL OF NEW BERN, MARY PLESO OF OHIO.
