

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Nido Hamilton, and his son Gerald Pelletier III (Jay).
He is survived by his wife, Jettie Pelletier; his sister, Clara Harrison; his children Penny Manning (Ned), Matt Pelletier, Wendy Mallard, Rob Mallard; and his grandchildren Cameron Pelletier (Lesley), Jenna Pelletier, Loegan Pelletier, Mary Scott Van Arsdale (Eric), Lucy Manning and fiancé Sam Hamrick, Price Pelletier, George Taylor, Isac Kauffman, and Presley Mallard, and one great-grandchild Sutton Tew.
Jerry was a graduate of Jones Central High School, UNC-Chapel Hill, and UNC School of Medicine. He served as a flight surgeon in the US Air Force for two years at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
Jerry moved to New Bern in 1974 and opened New Bern Orthopedics where he practiced medicine for almost 30 years. He was an active and supportive member of Christ Episcopal Church, serving on the clergy search committee and vestry. Jerry loved being on the water and living in Eastern NC. He enjoyed golf, UNC basketball, his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Trivial Pursuit, and playing cards. In his retirement, he enjoyed serving the community, volunteering at the MERCI clinic, and spending time with his family.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 16 at Christ Episcopal Church, 320 Pollock St., New Bern, NC, with Reverend Paul Canady and Reverend Suzanne Hood officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the outdoor chapel of the churchyard. Family will receive visitors in the Harrison Center after the service.
