Gerri Williams

Gerri Williams, born January 29, 1968, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, music, friendship, and love.

Gerri was a devoted teacher and coach who found great joy in encouraging, teaching, and connecting with others. She had a passion for live music and concerts and was a proud Grateful Dead fan. Music was more than entertainment to her—it was a way to create memories and share experiences with the people she loved.

Above all, Gerri cherished her family and friends. She had a special gift for bringing people together and was always willing to create an opportunity for everyone to spend time together. Whether celebrating her famous annual oyster roast, (to which she invited literally everyone who crossed her path right up until the day of the party), shaking it to live music up and down the east coast (and beyond! - those Sphere days won’t soon be forgotten!) hosting football Sundays to cheer on her Panthers, arranging betting pools for Survivor fans, or just enjoying the company of those she loved and was loved by, she, more than anyone ANY of us know or will know, understood the importance of making memories with the people who mattered most.

Gerri will be deeply missed by her six siblings, Barbara Shockey (Mike), Richard Williams (Judy), Jim Williams, Michael Williams (Teresa), Patrick Williams (Scott) Mary Ellen Brooker (Kevin) as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she touched along the way.

She was predeceased by her parents, A.W. and Ann Williams. The love, laughter, lessons, and memories she shared with those around her will continue to live on.

Her life was filled with music, friendship, family, and a genuine love for people. She leaves behind a legacy of connection and countless memories that will be treasured forever.

A celebration of Gerri will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 am at Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern. A celebratory reception will follow the service at 1514 Kimberly Road in New Bern. Tie dye attire is welcome.
